Alive in Imagination & Wonder (GWTW339)

Are you alive in imagination and wonder? Before you answer that, you might ask yourself, what is imagination? As a creative entrepreneur, it could be the way you weave words into works of wonder, the images you bring forth from the recesses of your mind, the stories you tell that captivate the masses, or the products you create for the betterment of your audience. Maybe it’s how you think about life and work, or the way you smile and make eye contact with every person you pass on the street. Regardless of your answer, everyone has an imagination and it’s worth exploring so you can be fully alive.

Quotes Referenced in this Episode:

From Walking in Wonder: Eternal Wisdom for a Modern World by John O’Donohue and John Quinn:

“Imagination never pretends to know it all. It never demands or claims an absolute standpoint, but it always relishes and celebrates the fact it is on the threshold where it cannot see everything. The kind of knowing that is in imagination is knowing through exploration. It is not predetermined concepts or ideas” (pp. 20-21).

“Each person is always on the threshold between their inner world and their outer world, between light and darkness, between known and unknown, between question and quest, between fact and possibility. This threshold runs through every experience that we have, and our only real guide to this world is the imagination” (p. 21).

“Where the imagination is alive, wonder is completely alive. When the imagination is alive, possibility is awake because imagination is the great friend of possibility. Possibilities are always more interesting than facts. We should not frown on facts, but our world is congested with them” (pp. 21-22).

There is so much more to imagination!

  1. Imagination is discovered through exploration.
  2. Imagination is our guide through this world and our experiences of it.
  3. Imagination unleashes wonder and possibilities.
  4. Imagination is a bridge between discovery and experimentation, the unknown and the known, curiosity and creativity, and the divine and human.
